AAL IZZ WELL

Apart from the name there is nothing idiotic about the movie, '3 IDIOTS'. In fact it will make many of us feel like idiots. The movie in a very humorous way tells us a lot about the pressures exerted on us by our parents and ourselves.

After watching the movie many students will rethink about what they love to do and change their paths. In fact there willLooking around we will rarely see someone indulged in doing things that call him. Parents still have a big say in the moulding of a child's career. The child's future is seen not with his eyes, but with those of his parents. Also to be blamed is the system itself. The world is changing so fast that there is no time to think if the path chosen is what we really want to tread. By the time we realise that the chosen path is not what we want to travel it is too late.

3 Idiots gives us a chance to rethink and relive our lives. It is an eyeopener for parents and students both. It makes an attempt to awaken students, parents, teachers and the entire education system. It makes us present to the flaws of our education system. Recently there has been news as to how it has influenced ragging and suicides. But they existed before the movie was released. The movie throws light on the consequences of our system and way of thinking.

After watching the movie many students will rethink about what they love to do and change their paths. There will be many who would wish the movie was made 3 decades back. A few may take up things they always wanted to but could not.

There has been a controversy about the movie being made from a book. Looking at the other side movies touch more people than books. I say there is nothing wrong in adapting from a good source. It should make the author feel more proud that he has touched more people than he would have thought. I would say the movie is to the book what practicals is to theory.

RAB NE BANADI JODI

My kid innocently blackmailed me to take her to the movie RAB NE
BANADI JODI. I have never been to keen to watch a Shah Rukh Khan
movie and was very reluctant to go. We were lucky enough to get
tickets for a Sunday evening show.
I found the movie very interesting and thought provoking. In my
opinion it is a neat and clean adult movie. Wondering what I am
saying. The movie is surely not for kids. The message in the movie
can be digested I guess after you become an adult. The message is
simple. When you love someone you accept the person as he or she is completely. There are no conditions. I have already written this
in one of my earlier postings. When you see God in your lover, you
know your lover is flawless, as God is always perfect. What may
seem shortcomings to you may be their strength.
The lady in the movie goes through a lot of confrontations. The
married lady in her stops her from relating emotionally with her
friend. But the woman in her feels for him. I am sure many women,
particularly in conservative countries go through the same thought
process. Feelings being an abstract entity cannot be controlled.
This does not mean starting affairs outside marriage. But
suppressing your feelings can be dangerous. One of the best ways to
tackle this situation would be to enjoy it without feeling guilty.
This is what the leading lady did for most part and all was well.
Personally, while watching the movie I imagined the climax would be
that she never comes to know the secret that her husband and lover
are same. For me that would have been a more appropriate end. But
the director and audience know the best. It is a must movie for married and single people.

SINGH IS NOT KING

The other day I talked about a classic Hindi movie. Last night I say Singh is King. I am sorry to say but I found this movie really boring. The movie moves from here to there without any continuity. The music is also loud and for me very unforgettable. I feel the makers of the movie made it in such a hurry that they themselves were not sure what they want to show. It’s a surprise that it is doing good. I would like to have opinions on this.

KHAMOSHI THE CLASSIC

The other day I read in an article that an LA based Indian is planning to make a remake of the 1969 Hindi Classic Khamoshi. I have seen this movie whenever I have had the chance and for me is one of the best love story. The emotions that a person experiences when in love are beautifully depicted in this movie. The actors did a marvelous job and the lyrics and music were full of romance. Jennifer Aniston will be playing the lead role essayed by Waheeda Rehman. They are looking for two male characters. Actors who come to my mind and who can do justice to the roles are Tom Hanks and Dustin Hoffman, if their age is not a factor. I would recommend a Hindi movie lover who has not seen Khamoshi to see it once. The way Dharmendra was shown in this movie was also a novel idea.
